Cabrillo Converter is registered software and requires a Callsign and a Registration code. These are both entered on the initial screen:

The Registration Code is only entered the first time the software is run.

Once the Registration Code is accepted the Cabrillo Converter main form is displayed:

Using the "File" pull own menu, open the log you wish to convert. Cabrillo Converter should open any ASCII file that is in column format, delimited by spaces or colons (colons are converted to spaces). Logs can have header information at the beginning of the log or at each page break. Cabrillo Converter will remove this information as it is loaded.

Here is an example of a log with a header as viewed with the Raw Log Editor built into Cabrillo Converter:

Here is another log as viewed within the main form:

Once the log is loaded, the next step is to choose a contest. Note that the exchange sent fields and the button pull down menus are built specific to the contest. At this point we are ready to identify the columns. This is done by selecting the button directly above the column and choosing the appropriate menu item:

Note that for some columns further identification is needed. For example in this case the log format is using band information instead of frequency. Select the Band menu item and Cabrillo converter will automatically change the band information into frequency to match the Cabrillo format:

Continue to identify each column. In this case we marked the "RTTY" column not used. If no mode column is identified, Cabrillo Converter will use the mode identified in the combo box selector in the upper right portion of the main form. Note that for Date columns you must match the format of the date in the log with the date shown on the menu item:

Continue to identify all the columns. Note that there will probably be may unused columns. They can either be left alone or marked not used. If they have been marked not used then the button's label is blank. At this point all columns are identified:

At this point you can try and save the log. A careful observer will notice that the original log did not contain all the fields required for the Cabrillo Log. On a save, the program will detect this and identify a missing field:

You can then fill in the needed information, in this case the sent callsign and exchange. (For RTTY Roundup, DX stations would have selected the serial number column as the sent exchange.) Here is the form with everything identified:

Once the QSO information is all identified, the Cabrillo header information should be entered. Using the Edit pull down menu item the Cabrillo header Form can be accessed:

Once all the header information is entered, return to the main form and save the new Cabrillo Log ready for submittal.
